Nuthatch, White-breasted

Length: 5-6".

The White-Breasted Nuthatch is a common year round breeding resident of Big Canoe that lives in the woodlands. It frequents bird feeders and takes sunflower seeds off to the side of a tree, where it wedges them into a crevice and hammers them open. It can be seen hopping headfirst down the trunks of trees in search of insect food. It is a white and blue-gray bird with a black cap.

Their Song is a commonly heard nasal "Ank Ank."
