Nuthatch, Brown-headed
Their song is a nasal "Kew do do"
The Brown-headed Nuthatch is an uncommon bird at Big Canoe. It is one of the few birds seen almost exclusively in the United States where it is restricted to the pine forests of the southeastern states. I have only found this one when it turned up unexpected at my feeder. As all nuthatches, they are seen climbing upside down on tree trunks. They occassionaly go to feeders where these pictures were taken.
